I recommend Act or other alcohol free fluoride rinses for several reasons. It is excellent for children who can rinse without swallowing for cavity prevention (especially for those with high cavity rates.) It is great for teenagers who drink soda, sports drinks or who are in braces. It is beneficial for adults with gingival recession to prevent root cavities and sensitivity. It is also good cavity prevention for adults who experience dry mouth. You can even order it from Amazon!
Studies demonstrate cavity reduction with regular use of xylitol. Although there are many products containing xylitol, Ice Breakers are easiest to find in your local stores. You can even order them from Amazon!
If you suffer from frequent, painful canker sores, this product is the best treatment I have found. Although the product is not sold directly to the public, we can order it for you at cost. We also stock some in the office and are happy to treat a canker sore for you so that you can see if this product is right for you.
Designed to help relieve oral dryness and the symptoms of inadequate saliva. You can find a variety of Biotene products on Amazon.
If you have persisting bad breath despite good brushing and flossing, the use of a tongue scraper is a simple, inexpensive solution that may really help. You can order these directly from their website.
This is a soothing mouth rinse that I recommend for a variety of sores in the mouth (cankers, inflamed gums, post-surgery healing, etc.) Although hydrogen peroxide mixed with water (50:50) also works well, this flavored rinse is more pleasant to use. It is available in most drug stores.
One of the world's most trusted brands in dental products.
Oral-B developed this learning center for dental health education to promote oral care habits that are essential to the lifelong health of teeth and gums. The site includes information and advice for children, adults, and dental health teachers.
This toothbrush is especially good for aggressive brushers. Used as directed, it can slow the progression of gingival recession. Remember to change brush heads at least every 6 months. Our office has great prices on these products. Ask about them at your next visit.
The AirFloss is a unique device made by Phillips–-the maker of the Sonicare toothbrush. The AirFloss is a good tool for those who struggle with the habit of flossing. It works by producing a quick blast of air mixed with a liquid to clean in-between the teeth. We have found improvement in our patients’ tissue health versus no flossing at all. The bottom line is….not as effective as regular flossing, but better than no flossing at all! See Sonicare for more information. Our office provides these for a great price. Ask us about it at your next visit.
